I wonder what sort of reaction Nike and Michael Jordan are going to have to adding another logo to Michigan's uniforms. Would the company demote UM to the standard Nike swish v. The Jumpman?
I suspect that any corporate logo placed on Michigan's FB unis will go above the B1G patch like the Ohio State mockup.
It's a shame it's come to this, but I don't think anyone on this board is really surprised. A deal which pays $20M annually goes a long way towards covering the $21.6M universities can pay their athletes per the House Settlement.
I think it was sixteen years ago when Sailor Bill proposed having a paying sponsor for the Michigan-Ohio State game. If I recall correctly, President Coleman shot down that idea pretty publicly. My, how times have changed.
Picking up on this morning's postings, there is an obvious cost savings to shutting down the Michigan Women's Gymnastic team and tearing down or mothballing their practice facility. According to the most recent figures available, the program's net loss is $2.538M. See the link below.
So if a Bryce Underwood earns $5M in overall compensation annually, than this net loss represents a little over 50% of a BE equivalent. In turn, UM loses six women's gymnastics coaches their jobs plus 21 athletic scholarships. Huzzah.
