Was looking at Sayfie's projected depth chart on on3 today (defense). The defense honestly looks pretty stacked. Deep and a nice blend of youth and experience....

In terms of being a title contender in the image of 2021, 2022 and 2023, I think we could be but have a few concerns to reach that level:
--LB seems adequate but will it be good
--DT will be good, but will the depth be good and will we stuff the run
--Are there any difference makers on defense at the level of a Hutch, Graham, Sainristil, Johnson, DJ Turner, Colson, etc. I think Daley, Pierce, Hill, Snowden, Berry COULD BE.
Remember we entered 2021 with questions about starters like Hawkins, Moten, Green, Ross, Hinton. Nobody knew who Ojabo was and Turner wasn't starting at the start of the year. In 2022, Sainristil was brand new to defense and we were replacing both safeties. 2023 had few worries but we replaced Turner with Wallace.
Thinking about 2021 specifically, we don't have a Hutch though Daley is good. Will one of the youngsters be an Ojabo? I think our DTs are as good. I think our CBs in Hill, Snowden, Berry, Earls, Edmond is better than 2021. Safeties should be close. LB is a question but we were starting Ross. I think the D talent and depth is very close. Just wonder about difference makers.
Bottom line: the 2 deep is strong

I just hope we're competitive in the games we're expected to lose and handle business in the rest. Pre-programming losses and finding stuff to do on Saturday afternoons is still fresh in my memory*

Yes, we remember the years when a bunch of question marks get answered, or even turned into exclamation points. It does seem like we have a lot of bodies everywhere but LB, and I'd rather be solid and deep at DE, DT and DB. The difference makers thing is my question too....

Agreed. Offense hopes built on huge improvements from BU and sophomore WRs but not same dynamic on defense. I’m a believer in both*

Depth is fine, but who are the difference makers? Where is a Hutch, Will, Graham, Moore etc? On paper we have some candidates, but show it*

I would say Rod Moore, Jyaire Hill, and John Henry Daley could all be major studs. The Mgo guys rave about Bracey as well.
