Instead of admit that their moral superiors were right all along about their hero.

They'll get an off-ramp as Trump gets increasingly deranged and incontinent. It'll be annoying as fuck because poor dumb kurt will still cling onto the idea that Trump let him play tennis again. But whatever. Better that than have a third Trump term.
