My favorite Lions story

I was in college when the Mike Utley thing happened and the Lions made it all the way to the NFC championship. I was young and naive, it felt like the start of a long run of success. The next year they had a ton of injuries and went 5-11. I was talking to some buddies of mine towards the end of the season:
Friend 1: I knew the season was cooked when they blew that game against Minnesota in week 8.
Me: That loss to Tampa in week six killed me.
(Turned to Friend 2 who was half paying attention): What about you? When did you give up on the Lions?
Friend 2, with missing a beat: 1975, as soon as I was old enough to know better.
