2 million a year is a fuck ton of money: in the top “less than 1%.” (In 2024, the 99th percentile for US income was at about 450k.)

Realistically, UNLV is probably a better job than Purdue in every way except the money. Purdue is one of the worst programs in a ridiculously top-heavy 18-team conference. Could they improve their lot? Sure, but it’s extremely unlikely. Oh, and it’s in West Lafayette, Indiana.

UNLV is one of the top G6 programs: their odds of making the playoffs in any given year are small, but realistically quite a bit higher than Purdue’s.

There are a million factors I don’t know, of course. But if he just took the higher-paying job because that’s how ppl keep score, that is kind of baffling to me.
