He didn't make the tourney in his first 3 seasons. He barely made it in Years 4 and 5 before making the Final Four in Year 6. Then he made 3 more FFs, a S16 before winning it all. After his 1992 title, he only made 1 Final Four in next year 8 years (didn't win) despite having boatloads of talent. He finally won again in 2001.

He was very successful, but he didn't win it all every year or even make the FF.
