The Victors

My son is teaching me some lessons, his senior year of high school. This summer, he told us he didn’t want to have regrets finishing his senior year. To our surprise, he told his dad and I that he wanted to play football. This was a huge surprise to us because he’s never played football and hardly even watched it, so he had to learn the game completely. But this summer, he practiced through the heat with the team while working and interning both part time. He’s already got some time on the field (as a Safety) and he has the best attitude. He’s not afraid of hard work, persistence and discipline and taking a chance. (He also took up wrestling his junior year)

So, I have to ask myself, as the non-profit world still feels unstable and uncertain, what risks am I willing to take to be successful? What pivots must I make to also help my clients be successful? One thing for sure, I am going to let my son lead the way and follow his attitude and discipline. Apparently I have a lot to learn from a 17 year old!

And here’s to a successful and fun football, wrestling, baseball and academic senior year! You’ll find me in the bleachers rooting him on!
