All of the traditional lines of criticism or attack don’t work if the world knows he’s a piece of shit and enough people just don’t care. Oh, he lied? Yeah, we know he’s a liar. Oh, he’s a misogynist? Yeah we know that too. Oh, he’s a racist? Also known. Next.

Literally any other politician was, and still is, expected to be a good person. Somehow Trump slid through the cracks as a known piece of shit. How could you “expose” him when everybody already knew it and held him to such low standards that there was nothing to reveal or bring to light. The normal rules just don’t apply. They reported on all of it, his supporters just didn’t care.
