I'm not usually a reality show guy but the first episode of Naked and Afraid: Shipwrecked is wildly compelling TV...

It starts with one of my greatest nightmares, being out in the middle of the ocean with no idea which direction to go or what scary beasts are out there.

And they don't have a raft or anything luxurious - they have an inner tube each, basically, and are getting pounded by salt water. They're out there for like 8 fucking hours until sunlight and they can see shapes of the island and where to go.

Even in the best shape I was ever in, I would have died right then and there. I always admire endurance athletes because I have none. I was a quick twitch athlete, not even fast, just quicker than everyone else.

And that's not even the craziest thing that happens in the first episode! One team can't find water, so, completely exhausted, they have to go through 2 fucking miles of ocean to migrate to another place on the island, because everything else is razor sharp coral and rocks.

They're getting *slammed* with decent sized ocean waves, inhaling salt water, dead muscles. Even if you know there was someone there to rescue them if needed, it was insanely impressive that they accomplished the feat and stayed in the show.

Good stuff.
