We were opening at Illinois and I was there (I've never been to Illinois). We kicked off to Illinois and on the return they tried some razzle dazzle to advance the ball (including a forward pass?). A tall UM player wearing #1 leaped up and grabbed it, and returned it to about the 5 yard line. He jumped up, ripped off the #1 jersey to reveal #98, then ripped that one off to reveal #19. I remember thinking (as a middle-aged man does) why the drama?

On the first play from scrimmage, Bryce ran a fake zone read with Marshall and handed off to Hiter behind him who walked into the endzone untouched. I was so excited I ran from the field back to a nearby sports bar to find a buddy who was there and ask if he saw it. Of course he did, he was watching the game at the bar!
