Give the current global climate emergency with projections that average surface temperatures on Earth are going to rise approx 0.3°C over the next decade, I don't see daytime August college football games being an issue.

By 2036, I expect a contraction and realignment in college sports to smaller, more regionalized conferences. That would also include fewer regular season games that would allow a season start in late September. If that still doesn't work in Ann Arbor weather wise, then have more night games or move them to Ford Field.

On a distantly related note, I see Michigan is starting the 2028/9 seasons with two minor opponents. Is UM setting the "sandwich template" wherein the major OOC opponent game is played in between two relative tomato cans? I wonder who that third OOC opponent will be? Will the Wolverines go full Cignetti/Penn State with its non conference slate? Or will the decision be made to minimize the travel and play teams like Cincinnati or Pittsburgh and stay in the Eastern time zone? As always, we can expect the television networks to have their say...
