Something you like that others dismiss as “basic.”

One of mine is Taylor Swift, especially her straight-ahead pop hits. I think they’re her best work, and I think she’s extremely good at what she does. Plus, she seems likeable and a good role model, as an extra bonus. And I like basic pop music better than a lot of “cooler” styles like singer/songwriter.

Another of mine is, well, college football. I exist in circles where interest in sports is by no means universal, and is considered flat-out Neanderthal by some. That used to embarrass me a little, but now I just own it. Yep, I’m a guy, I like to drink beer and watch football.
