Her insanity defense falls apart based on the fact that she was doctor shopping and ended up taking a whole pile of medications that caused her to become mentally unstable, i.e. one doctor prescribed a few drugs, another doctor prescribed a few more without knowing what she was already on, and the combination caused her to go off the deep end. She's no different than someone who kills a family while driving drunk and then claims to lack the requisite mental state to have formed intent to kill. My wife (a PhD psychologist who got her training in forensics and has testified at multiple murder trials) also said that the prosecution has an outstanding expert on the mental health aspects and the defense countered with Clancy's treating physicians, who are not experts and are too close to the matter to be objective.

Anyway, I haven't followed it closely but my wife has and I trust her judgment on matters like this.
