From 1989 through 1998, ten seasons, he averaged 8.8 wins above replacement if you normalize 1994 for a full season. 8.8 WAR is a much better season than the best season of most players in the HOF. He was by this metric the best position player in the league in seven of those ten seasons. In the other three he was second, third, and fourth. He was very close to sustained peak Willie Mays before he started juicing, and he was the best player of the 1990s by a mile.
