As colors, carmine and cinnabar are pretty deep cuts. (I’m pretty sure I did not know, before today, that carmine could be a color.)

If that had been purple or blue, OK. BUt green?

I solved today’s puzzle in exactly “backward” order: purple, blue, green, yellow.
