Tigers are 11 games under their predicted Pythag record. By the numbers they should be leading the division. They have lost an unbelievable number of games they were leading.
They have had tons of pitching injuries (Vest, Hurter, Flaherty, Verlander, Olson, etc) and have had some guys just underperform (Finnegan, Jansen, Valdez). Then they traded Skubal and Mize. Somehow they still have the 3rd best ERA and WHIP in the league but they also have found ways to blow games anyway.
And the hitting has collapsed since early August.
