No tangible effect on our lives.

We could prevent a lot of bad outcomes by not forcing unnecessary competition with and confrontation of China. They suck in many ways but an actual war with China would be horrendous for normal Americans (and pretty much everyone in east Asia) regardless of who has the advantage in AI. I’m aware of Xi’s idiotic desire to subjugate Taiwan, but they have significant geopolitical and demographic problems that AI dominance wouldn’t change. Nor, for that matter, would they be ameliorated by taking Taiwan.

If China uses its AI edge for scientific advancement….good?
