Following Appy State, which is the closest comp i can think of for expectations-lowering opening game performance, the betting line moved but we were still either favored or just slight dogs. I could not understand how a much more talented version of the same offense was not going to destroy us. I thought it was the craziest betting line I'd ever seen. (I didn't bet, not a bettor).

But the general similarity here is expectations not catching up enough to extreme data, and facing a good opponent that can exploit the weaknesses revealed in week one and not enough time to fix them. If I had t bet, I wouldn't even consider betting on Michigan unless I got at least two touchdowns. Probably closer to three. I mean, that offense was dysfunctional. Maybe you can solve it (2007 UM did improve a lot) but it takes time, at minimum.
