So people have, in a sense asked to believe something that their eyes saw differently.
And then the B1G says "the clocks were synced" before the game, lending credence to McAuliffe insisting the NBC clock was synced to the official clock.
The best explanation of it all that I've seen is from RobM on the MGoBoard, who explained that the clocks WERE synced UNTIL the clocking of the ball just before the first Hail Mary. It was at that point that the refs asked the timekeeper to put 9 seconds on the clock. All three clocks--Stadium, Official and NBC's went to 9, but when the ball was snapped it becomes clear that NBC's clock was no longer in sync. It went to 8 sooner than the stadium and official clocks, and thus went to 0 before the others. Why someone in an official capacity can't explain this is beyond me, unless it's Michigan Controversy Clicks related.
