To be fair, we’d only known each other for two months when we got engaged and planned our wedding for 364 days from when we’d met.

And no, we did not listen to my parents. And to this day, my wife and mother don’t have a great relationship.

FWIW, we are still together. We’re celebrating our 31st anniversary in a couple of weeks. I have always (at least partially) attributed that to my wife’s spitefulness and determination to prove my mother wrong.
