WMU got a couple favorable spots that kept them from having to face fourth down. The odds of Michigan stopping WMU on a fourth and short is probably 20-30%. WMU got both of those calls. The Big Ten apparently decided to give them that and then give Michigan a play that had a 1-2% chance of success.

The extra play is only getting attention because Michigan made an incredible play on the Hail Mary, which was about the first thing that went right on offense after the first drive.
