Good wishbone football offenses were fun in the 70s. Remember when TAMU came to A2 in 1975, IIRC ...

They ran the pure wishbone; I believe their coach Emory Bellard had invented it while an assistant to Darrell Royal at Texas. As I remember it was the first time UM had ever played a pure wishbone team.

In those days inter conference games between the Big Ten and SWC were quite rare. Nobody in the Big Ten ran the wishbone as their exclusive offense in those days; MSU dicked around with it for half a season in 71 or 72 and their QB got flattened.

Anyway Bo and UM beat TAMU and the wishbone.
