I was living in Chicago in 83 when this happened. Unfortunately, there is only audio of this. You can hear the Cubs lockerroom hairdryers blowing, and you still probably could have heard a pin drop. You can’t see or appreciate the ring of sports reporters around Elia, holding their Panasonic microphones to his face, their jaws on the floor as they watch a lifetime baseball man commit live career hari-kari before their eyes. (Ironically the Cub radio play be play man during this time was Harry Caray).
