…WMU winning in Michigan Stadium would’ve been the second biggest win in school history. As someone who doesn’t really care about college hockey, I’d argue it would’ve been the biggest.

To lose on a Hail Mary at the end of the game after shutting Michigan out after the opening drive is an unbelievably cruel outcome. In hindsight, the notion that putting one second on the clock is some sort of conspiracy is ridiculous in the same way that NFL officials “hate the Lions” or EPL referees officiated Cristian Romero unfairly because he played for Spurs. Sports are one of the few things that Twitter is still useful for, and instant reaction to that ending was about what you’d expect.

What’s been lost a little with the clock thing and how disappointed Michigan fans are with the overall performance is just how extraordinary the last play was. Underwood got crushed on the play and made that throw falling backwards. The receiver made an unbelievable play on the ball. I’m not sure WMU could have defended that play without committing a penalty - not with the trajectory of the ball.

Honestly, I wish it would’ve been proven that the clock was reset in error. Not because it would’ve exposed Michigan as “cheaters” or have been an example of a grand conspiracy by the Big Ten to protect its favorite brands. Rather, it would’ve allowed WMU’s players to know that they’d won the game. Now, I suspect they are all thinking about the handful of moments that allowed them to lose it.
