One explanation I saw is that it wasn’t the clocks that didn’t match up but the game video feeds.

That is, the broadcast feed was slightly delayed by being fed through the software that adds graphic such as the yellow line to gain stripe. Presumably the offici review feed that is synced to the clock before the game is separate and not subject to this delay.

  - Still doesn’t address when the VIDEO feed isn’t synced properly. The Network broadcast & program clock can be perfectly timed w the in stadium clock, but if the video feed is a half second behind due to production editing, it still fucks everything up bc it’s not an accurate representation.(m) - By LKLIII September 8, 2026 at 09:09:39 PM
  - The scary thing is that there's no burden, at least from the NCAA, onto the broadcasters. They probably like poking the networks with a stick a bit given the... chilly relationships they have with the Big Ten and the SEC. (nm) - By suede September 8, 2026 at 08:59:34 PM
