In particular, claims that Whittingham had no idea what he was getting into. This isn't Gerry Faust -- it's a guy who was very successful for many years in a major conference, coaching the football team of the state's flagship university, in a state where college football is really big, and there's no NFL or MLB franchise.

Another example: The claim that everybody brings their A game against Michigan, and this is very different than coaching Utah. Again, very "beating ND makes any team's season."

If there's a problem with Whitt it's that he's an old guy who just got a gigantic payday and may be losing the fire, plus he has no background in the Midwest at all, which still matters for recruiting if not nearly as much as it used to.

Basically I think Whitt's biggest problem has nothing to do with culture and everything to do with Bryce Underwood's mental state, which seems not good.
