I mean my own politics have changed a ton since I was what, 21 or 22. But he was anti-Israel then as he is now. I don't believe he is antisemitic, but I also think he's detested Israel for his entire life. That is now lining up with more of the electorate. He was devout in his faith, and would adhere to fasting during Ramadan. I remember him having to wake up to eat at like 5am.

As far as why we got into it: it kind os highlights something about him. It was an early fall ball practice and we were doing a ground ball drill. He was just going way too hard at me (especially for a freshman in one of his first practices) and I couldn't understand why. So I got into it with him, pinning him against the walls of Oosterbaan, arms flailing at each other until it was broken up. I said "what the fuck are you doing?" and his response was: "You led the team in ground balls last year. I wanted to beat you."
