He's not walking away from $24 million after this season, $18 million after 2027 next etc. Why would he do that no matter how badly things go? This is why liquidated damage provisions exist, so you can always fire a guy but you have to pay for doing so.

This reminds me of all the talk about how Ferentz was going to quit after the 2024 season. He had $48 million left on his contract!
