Something odd about World Cup advertising

Michelob Ultra ran an add with Messi, Pulisic, and an ex-Mexico goalie in the lobby of an expensive hotel. They are fucking around kicking a soccer ball around the lobby swilling Ultra.

All of a sudden Billy Bob Thornton gets out of the elevator wearing a bathrobe looking mildly agitated. Then he holds up a bottle and declares “Ultras for everyone”.

A wag here is that maybe 1.5% of Americans understand why Thorton is in the commercial. I guess another several thousand non-North American had a clue.

Some MBA pinheaded thought throwing the main character in cable show, Landman, into the lobby with the Futballers was a ripper of an idea. Landman drinks Ultra on the show! Get it?
