Man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting koi fish in Bangkok pond

Bangkok police have arrested a 51-year-old man accused of entering a private pond in central Bangkok and committing a sex crime on a koi fish.
Pol. Col. Yutthasilp Karin, chief of Thung Song Hong Police Station, identified the suspect as a man called Suchitchai, who also goes under the name Tong, shortly after the incident occurred at around 20:00 on September 7th.
The suspect pulled up to a house in the Soi Vibhavadi Rangsit 66 district of Bangkok by bicycle. He parked his bike alongside the pond before walking around the pond, then exposing his genitals and attempting to catch one of the fish.
On failing to do this, he stripped himself naked, climbed into the pond and caught one of the koi that way. After using it to masturbate with, he put the fish back in the pond and began removing himself from the pond.
This was when the property’s housekeeper, along with the owner of the fish, discovered the assailant. The suspect fled the scene on his bicycle, and while the owner gave chase, he fell while running after him and injured himself.
The homeowners then got in touch with the police and revealed that they had captured the whole thing on CCTV. This, along with the fact that the suspect fleed by bicycle, which suggested he lived in the same area, led to the suspect being arrested three days after the event.
After being spotted by police wearing the same clothes he’d worn in the CCTV footage, the suspect was brought in for questioning and shown the CCTV footage of the act. This is where he allegedly admitted that he was the man in the footage.
According to reports, the suspect said that he had gone to the area looking for a place to take a bath, but then saw the koi fish and became sexually aroused. Having no money to use public baths or pay for sex, he chose to assault the fish, an act that police suspect was caused by drug use.
Police will continue questioning the suspect while investigators gather evidence for his trial.
