The Victors

I've never been into jazz as a genre at all, and this was probably the only jazz album I ever actually owned. It sold a zillion copies which is no doubt how I ended up with one in 1976/1977. Anyway . . . the point of this little story is that the fact that I hadn't heard it in something close to half a century made it a perfect time capsule today for what was going on in my life at that time, which was in large part about the first girl I was ever seriously involved with. Something about not hearing that music even once in the interim made it an ideal time machine as music can be, but not if you've heard it 2,000 times in the intervening years.
