BTW I just went down the rabbit hole on the 1979 game footage.

Hewlett played 5!!! series. I had always thought it was one, ending the the turnover on downs at the 1. Actually that was the 2nd series after the first one ended in a punt. Hewlett did have a 15-20 yard run on the first play from scrimmage on the first drive.

He returned on a 3rd drive and threw a pick on the last play of the first quarter. He came back for two series in the 2nd quarter. On the first one he missed the fullback in the flat and on the last one he threw behind Betts. Bo ran a draw to Woolfolk on 3rd and 9 that got 8 yards and they punted.

When Hewlett was walking off, Jackson and Ara said he looked like he was limping so you remembered correctly. Maybe that's why Bo ran the draw on 3rd and long. Anyway, OSU finally got a FG to go up 3-0 late in the half. When Michigan came out for drive 6 it was Wangler and boom.....long bomb TD to AC.

Hewlett wasn't playing very well so maybe he would have come out anyway. But maybe not.
