So, the FBI says that ricin was found at an apartment building and the emergency room of a hospital. Ricin is bad, no bueno. Regardless, the ricin was found at a place called Tyden Lofts and the Corewell Health Pennock Hospital's emergency department in Hastings.

Ricin has been in the news before, letters to the White House in 2020 had ricin inside them, same in 2013 and a postal facility in S Carolina, 2003.
The White House incidents saw people go to jail, the postal facility, I don't think so, but you can Google the hell out of that.

FBI Detroit Field Office Statement Regarding Suspected Ricin Exposure in #Hastings, #Michigan
HASTINGS, Mich. - FBI Detroit is working alongside the Barry County Emergency Management Department, Barry-Eaton District Health Department, Michigan State Police, and other responding agencies regarding the suspected hazardous substance reported in Hastings.
FBI personnel are assisting with the examination of the suspected material, which has been reported as possible ricin, and are working to gather and preserve any evidence or information that may help determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Additional testing is being conducted to determine the nature of the substance.
“The safety of our communities remains our highest priority,” said Jennifer Runyan, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Detroit Field Office. “We recognize that the response to an incident like this can be disruptive and concerning for residents, but it is important that our personnel and our partners have the time and space necessary to safely collect evidence, evaluate the material, and determine exactly what occurred.”
FBI Detroit will continue coordinating with the Barry County Emergency Management Department, Barry-Eaton District Health Department, Michigan State Police, Corewell Health Pennock Hospital, the American Red Cross, and other local, state, and federal partners as appropriate.
The FBI will also make available appropriate federal resources, including victim assistance services, to support individuals impacted by the incident.
This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released when appropriate and when doing so will not compromise investigative activity.
