I have no idea if it’s true, but instead of money, the story goes, NCAA would have gone for more meaningful measures against Harbaugh and the team.

        Harbaugh's non-compliance would have been a Michigan issue instead of his own issue. They split the cases. Michigan standing by him would have also resulted in more penalties.
