Then VAR which shows Haaland was just on sides, but Enzo is obviously off sides and was lunging at the cross. I’m watching the Spanish channel so I can’t decipher everything (almost nothing) but it looks like they are trying to figure if the Enzo touched the ball.

I’m thinking to myself “I must not understand the off sides rule” because it’s obvious that Enzo made a play on the ball, and that the goalie and one defender left Haaland unguarded as they reacted to Enzo. This caused goalie to be too late to make a meaningful move to block Haaland’s shot. I mean, it’s obvious that the off side Enzo should be called whether he touched the ball or not.

But they allow the goal and now I’m realizing that I thought I knew the rule but I guess I don’t. By the way Haaland’s goal itself was no slouch. Great eye foot coordination.

So today I see FIFA of EPL is apologizing to Man U. For blowing the call since it was obvious Enzo played the ball and materially injected himself into the outcome of the play. 🤔
