In between the virulently racist (the people you talk about - the ones who think that if you don't use the n-word it's not racist) and the anti-racist is a large group of people who just think racism just isn't a big thing. And in that group, if you get an accusation of racism, there are some whose bias is to say "We're still doing this in 2026? We should be better than this" and there are some whose bias is to say "Ugh, another person being accused of racism? When are they going to quit playing the race card."

The latter group does not think they are racist, but they are at the very least racist-sympathizing enablers.
