- he sees Cover 2 man under, he knows he can probably run it for 20 yards before he gets touched.

- DE rushes upfield. he knows he's got a lane and runs it for a back-breaking 1st down (and doesn't take contact)

all those reads come with experience..

I just want to reduce the chances of him getting injured.
