Nichols appears in a portion of Stock Up for the second week in a row. The redshirt sophomore recorded half a sack as part of a seven-pressure performance, but his stat line could’ve easily been more impressive. He had what looked like a strip-sack on a spin move, but the referees called it an incomplete pass. To the naked eye, it was a strip-sack.
Nichols had a sack on another spin move erased by a penalty because he accidentally got John Mateer’s helmet. He once again flashed his long-arm and bull rush to rush to push the pocket and flush the quarterback. It isn’t polished yet, but Nichols has the foundation for what could develop into a hump move.
Nichols lacks high-level bend but can flash some speed and turn the corner with either a rip or chop clearing the way. He is a high motor run defender but lacks instincts and polish against the ground game.
