All crusty old Missouri alums. They admitted they lost concentration in the final moments because a dude in the front row had a heart attack and was being treated by the sideline.

The fact that it was a hometown crew went a long way to avoid allegations of conspiracy. Also, hard to conspire to create an extra down. All the refs missed it.

Saw a documentary years later and that crew of goobers were still running the chains at Missouri games

Back then the home team was responsible for the game clock and msu blatantly cheated, stopping the clock prematurely to give themselves an extra play, which won them the game.
