my dad's work had him out of town Monday and Thursday nights. Once in a great while my mom would take my sister and I to the A&W drive-in in our town....

That was such a treat, as we didn't go out to eat very often. My dad preferred my mom's cooking to eating in a restaurant, and we were I guess lower middle class so we could not afford to do that very often. Anyway, getting that burger, fries and a frosty mug of root beer is a great childhood memory. I also recall my mom being a really cheap tipper, which massively embarrassed my sister, who knew most of the car hops.
