most of those jobs are just the city taking care of itself. hospitals, restaurants, DMV. they don't pull money in. the stuff that actually pulls money in from outside is a short list. ports, aerospace, tourism, and Hollywood. and Hollywood is the one everyone knows the name of. nobody flies here to look at the port.

the ports are already slipping to Houston and Savannah. aerospace left once in the 90s and only some of it came back. entertainment jobs are 25% below where they were in 2022. LA used to have half the film jobs in America, now it's under 40%. that's all before Paramount does anything.

so idk, diversified is real, it just feels like the kind of diversified that's mostly weather and momentum.
