36 teams.

4 Nine-team divisions.

You play the 8 other teams in your division and one team from the other 3 (could be based on standings the previous year.)

Top-12 teams (4 division winners (byes), 4 second-place teams (home-games), 4 wild-cards) make the playoff. Playoffs are campus sites until the championship game in Pasadena (or maybe a few rotating sites)
