under a pair of shorts, and a wool t-shirt on top. Especially on the gravel bike, but also when riding road. The only time I'll wear a tight bike jersey and bibs is on a very long road ride, when that extra aero can shave 30 mins off the ride.

I've aged into an undertanding that 99% of dudes on bike do not need, and should not even want, 99% of their expensive bike-guy kit. Waste of money, less comfortable, less efficient, less durable.

Fat tires, comfortable clothes (but bike specific clothes, wool when possible, which means expensive, but good bibs, shorts, shirts, socks, shoes def worth it), ALUMINUM frame - ain't nobody but a racer riding races should have a carbon frame. You say it's a smoother more responsive ride? Just get wider tires and wax your damned chain.

It's really amazing how wrong the bike industry has understood the market, for decades.
