Paramount foreign ownership petition granted by US FCC

The US Federal Communications Commission’s Video Division of its Media Bureau granted a petition from Paramount Global to permit indirect foreign ownership of the company in excess of the 25 percent benchmark established in Section 310 (b)(4) of the Communications Act of 2004.
The US Federal Communications Commission’s Video Division of the Media Bureau granted a petition from Paramount Global to permit indirect foreign ownership of the company in excess of the 25 percent benchmark established in Section 310 (b)(4) of the Communications Act of 2004.

The declaratory ruling states that it would be in the public interest to allow up to 100 percent indirect foreign equity interest of Paramount, and grants specific approval for the following entities to hold over 5 percent of the equity interest of Paramount (see here):

• Public Investment Fund (15.1% equity) (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia);
• L’Imad 1st SPV 2 Exempt RSC Ltd (12.8% equity) (United Arab Emirates);
• L’imad 1st Holding 1 Exempt RSC Ltd (12.8% equity) (United Arab Emirates);
• L’imad 1st Capital Holding Ltd (12.8% equity) (United Arab Emirates);
• L’imad Holding Company – P.J.S.C (12.8% equity) (United Arab Emirates);
• QIA TMT Holding LLC (10.6% equity) (Qatar); and
• Qatar Investment Authority (10.6% equity) (Qatar)
