Speaking of Chernobyl ...

Watched a Science Channel documentary last night all about the accident and learned something about the plant I never knew.
Apparrently it was actually designed with 2 purposes. The public purpose was to generate electricity.
But it also had a secret purpose required by the KGB to create weapons grade plutonium for nuclear weapons if the KGB so desired.
These two cross-purposes called for a design that made it a ticking timebomb.
Also, it was built on the cheap, along with 2 other Soviet RBMK reactor plants. It had no containment chamber and its reactor walls were made of a thin layer of concrete. No protection against any type of incident.
