I cracked the window of a Lyft for some fresh air during a recent ride. The driver rolled it back up.

Rude. I wanted my window cracked.

Perhaps I'm petty. But the reality is I'm the customer.

I travel 130 days a year crisscrossing the country, and I rely heavily on service industries. I have two rules for service: 1) be professional, and 2) accommodate.

I never forget that in legal work, the client is the customer. If a client wants a document mailed on paper, I mail it. If they want a different version that's ethical, I make the changes. If they want a PDF and a Word version of the same document, I send them both.

Service matters.
