what's endearing about Sunderland if you have no connection to the area?

I guess a club that celebrates post industrial decline and are owned by a Uruguayan crypto bro who's a good friend of Farage is kind of novelty. I'm pretty old now, and there has never been a Sunderland team in my lifetime that was exciting to watch, or notable for anything other than failure or underachievement.

Valencia used to be a huge club (lost as many CL finals as Arsenal), but they are unfortunately owned by a Philipino drug lord who's running the club into the ground. I've always had a soft spot for them.
