Great read. I went to one of the previous conferences mentioned in there (Get Motivated).

The conference was exactly as described...less of a Christian message to that one, but lots of motivational speakers and they mix in a couple of sales guys to promote their packages. Pretty sure it was real estate focused, not stock market at that time. But I had already wasted a few years trying to make money in real estate after reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad, so I had no interest in buying their product and could smell the scam a mile away.
Trying to remember who I saw speak. Colin Powell might have been there, but definitely Lou Holtz and Bill Cosby were two of the big names I remember, and there were definitely some others as well. I suppose if you know it's a scam going in, and just want to go spend a day watching celebs tell stories, it wasn't too bad. But I had no idea the follow up classes were even more of a pressure sell to spend thousands. That's terrible.
