Re: profanity. I was in grade school 1964-68, middle school 1969-72, HS 72-76 and college 76-80ish. Profanity in public at sporting events etc etc was unheard of when I was in grade school, but literally everywhere when I was in HS

When I was in high school and early college, it was utterly routine for crowds to scream, "eat shit," "fuck off," etc etc. Our white bread suburban HS had an organized cheer with the chorus, "we don't take no shit, hey!! We don't take no shit!!"
About 1977-80 this reached a high water point and steadily became less common. I would guess it had something to do with the overall sociopolitical atmosphere.
