2. He expressed regret that "this year hasn't gone the way we wanted it." (Obviously.) What happens if he actually pitches well tomorrow? Will fans say, "oh how fitting, what a storybook ending," or will say, "gee, if you had been able to come back and pitch a few weeks ago when the team was still alive for the playoffs, maybe fans would be in a better mood about it"??

His injuries seemed very much like the kinds of things that an active player on a playoff contending team would suck it up and play over.
